Holidays are the best times to spend with families and no doubt going to movies with family are one of the best ways of spending these holidays. Now not everyone decides on going to distant places over holidays; some prefer to stay in town. 10. The Santa Clause (1994)

What can be a better name than this to give the movie a feel for Christmas? So the story revolves around Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) who unintentionally kills Santa and then has to become Santa himself which is also magical. It is a family movie served for Christmas in a fantasy comedy spirit and Tim completely justifies his role. The direction of John Pasquin is great and this was the beginning of Tim and John working together; the duo who later delivered gifts like Home Improvement, Joe Somebody etc. The other 2 sequels of the movie were not so successful and can only be called as a failed attempt.
9. Frosty the Snowman (1969)

A classic and vintage animated movies whose sole inspiration is from the Christmas song of the same name. This movie is centered on the snowman that is brought to life by a magician. Frosty befriends a cute little girl who is accompanying him to North Pole where he must reach before he melts. But little did they know that the wicked magician is following them in order to get his hat back. It is a wonderful short movie that you might want to see at least once for your Christmas.
8. Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

This is a classic all-time favorite for Christmas in which the hypocrite world that we live in try to defy Santa. A man who claims to be Santa Clause is sent into the institution considering an insane. The story then progresses when a young lawyer decides to help him prove that he is the real Santa. A heartwarming movie it is which has proved so significant that even the Library of Congress preserved the movie in 2005 in the United States National Film Registry.
7. Bad Santa (2003)

So in movies we always get a picture of our nice hearted and loving Santa. And it was about time when someone will experiment with that image; so Bad Santa was brought by Terry Zwigoff. The title role was played by Billy Bob Thornton and he completely did justice to his role in this Christmas black comedy. The story is all about a thief who disguises as Santa and commits petty thefts and crimes every year. As the story progresses; there is shown a change of heart in of this “criminal minded” Santa and that’s what movie is about. A few emotional moments combined with the comedy makes it one of the best Christmas movies.
6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

We know the work of Dr. Seuss and how his stories are different and also with a message in them. So this was the first movie that was filmed based on one of the books by Dr. Seuss. Ron Howard was behind the cameras in the movie and an incredible role of the Grinch was played by one of the most talented Hollywood actors, Jim Carrey. While everyone in the Whoville is living a joyous life; there is a Grinch who plays practical jokes on the citizens and want to ruin their Christmas. The movie is just the encounter of an 8 year old with burglars from whom he intends and determines to save his home while his family is away on Christmas vacation and he is in his home; all alone.
