  • Simplify.Create

I have never heard of most of these. Just goes to show how much of the world Google controls lol

  • Fiona Naughton

I have to admit I’ve only ever heard of the top five and out of them the only one I use is Google.

  • I do my searches on google since it’s more sorted there. Thanks to page ranking by google.

  • Anna Sundqvist

Interesting read – I guess most of us, just like me, tend to use Google out of habit. Good to shed some light on other options.

  • rubbieanne

Wow! Never heard some sites till I read this post! Thanks

  • I know the first top 6 famous search engines, the remaining four, never heard of, just now. Google’s the vital SE for now and even in the future. Thanks for sharing.

  • Payel Paul

This has been very informative. I only knew of the first 5!

  • Suzanne Rudge (MapleMouseMama)

I have heard of several of these, but I honestly did not know there were so many! And Duck Duck Go? Who comes up with these?

  • This is great! It’s so easy to get stuck with the same old search engine and no one puts together a comprehensive list like this. I have bookmarked and will be coming back often to review a new search engine real soon. Thanks Stephen

  • No wonder Google owned the word, though incorporating the term “web search” with this name (i.e. Just ‘Google’ it instead of just ‘search’ that over the net,) is simply its effect. However, good to know that Lycos was part of this list. I used to visit the site then if I want to look for lyrics.

  • I’ve heard of the top 6 but Google is definitely king of search engines. It has even become a “verb” when people want to search for something online

  • Manu Kalia

Google is actually the number company now not the apple. Glad to see Google on the top spot.

  • Roberts

Hi, I am Vanessa. It is amazing what a great rise google search engine experienced in time. They started simple and no one actually expected such an outstanding growth. Google is an empire now.

  • Tiffany Yong

Hmmm… why will anyone use any other search engine besides Google? As in, does it show different results if I search the same keyword on perhaps…. duckduckgo.com?

  • Joanna Sormunen

I must admit that I only use Google. I have heard that others are better for pics though.

  • Rochkirstin Santos

I already can’t imagine how we would live our lives without search engines. These answer our questions every day. They never fail me. My favorites? Google and Yahoo.

  • Rachael

Wow I didn’t realise that there were that many search engines available! What would life be without them now?

  • phyaboo

I personally just use Google, then use Yahoo when I’m not satisfied with the results. i didn’t know there were a lot of search engines available!

  • Sarah Kidsonboardnet

Oh dear – this just reminds me that so there’s still so many more search engines to engage than just google! On my China-made phone, the default search is by Baidu. Thanks for the reminder – that there so many more to engage!

  • Sin Yee

Oh gosh! I only know the top 4… =X

  • dmhyf

Google is still the best search engine. Even Yahoo or Bing cannot come up with the list of good sites that Google can provide. I am curious about that Duck Duck Go. Never heard of it before. – Fred

  • ive never heard of the bottom 5. i always use google. duck duck go makes me laugh for some reason

  • Loudthinkin

I knew google would top the list! It goes without saying that google is the best!

  • just wondering, why is Baidu not on the list? I think it’s one of the most used search engine..

  • I had mo idea there were that many search engines… beyond Google and Yahoo, maybe Bing, I’m done. Ha!
